Report: Giants, Juan Uribe discussed reunion but asking price 'too expensive'

BY foxsports • February 5, 2016

Infielder Juan Uribe remains on the free-agent market and has been linked to the Cleveland Indians as recently as earlier this week

On Friday, ESPN's Buster Olney reported that the San Francisco Giants have had discussions with Uribe about a potential return, but the talks haven't gone anywhere due to Uribe's asking price:

Uribe, of course, was a big part of the Giants' 2010 World Series victory before moving on to the Los Angeles Dodgers for four seasons.

Olney added something that may be a big factor in why Uribe has yet to sign on with a new team for 2016: He's apparently asking for different salary figures depending on what his role would be on the interested club:

Uribe, 36, split 2015 with the Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and New York Mets, totaling 119 games in which he hit .253/.320/.417.

In 2013 with the Dodgers, Uribe appeared in 132 games -- his highest total during his time in L.A. and the highest single-season tally since 2010 in San Francisco.
