Palmeiro 'a little nervous' about upcoming Sugar Land Skeeters stint

On Thursday, word broke that longtime Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles star Rafael Palmeiro has signed a deal with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Independent League. The 50-year-old four-time MLB All-Star signed on as a publicity stunt so he can play alongside his son Patrick, an infielder on the Skeeters, this weekend.
As quoted by the team's official press release announcing the news, Palmeiro expressed excitement about the opportunity: "The chance to play with my son is an opportunity the Skeeters have offered me, and I’m very excited to make it happen this weekend."
Of course, getting back on ANY field has to be a bit nerve-wracking for a former pro athlete, especially one that's been out of action for as long as Palmeiro has.

In a chat with Click2Houston, Palmeiro admitted he's feeling some butterflies about the whole thing: “I haven’t done it in a long time, and I’m obviously a lot older than when I finished my career, so I’m not sure what to expect. I think the guys are looking forward to it. … I’m a little nervous. I think I’ll be OK.”
Anxious feelings or not, it sounds like a fun and nostalgic time is in store for Palmeiro and his family this weekend.
