Noah Syndergaard throws more 98-mph pitches than entire MLB teams

There's a reason why Noah Syndergaard's nickname is Thor. Not only does he look like the comic book hero, but he's strong like him, too. So strong that he's consistently throwing pitches by batters with the greatest of ease.
To show just how incredible his velocity is, take a look at this stat. In 2016, he's already thrown more pitches over 97 mph than five teams did in 2015. His 68 such pitches are more than the bottom three teams had last season combined.

What makes this stat even more incredible is that he's only started two games thus far. TWO. That's 160 fewer starts than each of those five teams had in 2015, given the 162-game schedule. It's no wonder he's leading MLB with an average pitch velocity of 98.3, with most of those being sinkers.

In those two starts, Syndergaard has allowed just one run, two walks and has struck out 21 in 13 innings. His ERA of 0.69 is minuscule, as is his .208 batting average against. And it's not just gas the Thor uses to get K's. He can drop a sweeping hook at any moment, too.

Syndergaard is on the fast track to an outstanding season, and he's only 23 years old.
