Noah Syndergaard gave Brandon Phillips the most painful at-bat of 2016

If there's one pitcher in baseball that you don't want to bean you, it's Noah Syndergaard. He's far-and-away the hardest thrower in the league, averaging above 98 mph on both his fastball and sinker -- the two fastest in MLB. Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips learned that the hard way on Monday night.
Phillips got hit by not one Syndergaard pitch, not two, but three pitches from the flame-thrower. The first two were foul balls off of his foot, with the last being a 98-mph fastball off the finger, forcing him to leave the game.

Getting hit by three baseballs in one at-bat is painful enough, but taking three off the body from Syndergaard is a different kind of agony.
Fortunately, Phillips' X-rays came back negative on his finger, so he should be OK after heavy icing and some serious recovering.
X-rays on the left ring finger of @DatDudeBP were negative.
