Ishikawa's rehab assignment ending, but Giants haven't decided his role yet

Travis Ishikawa was back in San Francisco on Tuesday, but not because he had been reactivated following his rehab assignment, according to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News. He wasn’t scheduled to play for Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, so it was fitting that he was in AT&T given that his bobblehead was being given out in honor of Japanese Heritage Night.
Ishikawa’s rehab assignment is set to end Saturday, but the man who sent the Giants to the World Series last year on a home run is not guaranteed a spot on roster. Nothing has been determined yet, but he said he would accept a bench role:
“It’s a role I kind of accepted since 2010,” he said. “If I’m not going to be an everyday guy, I want to be the best pinch hitter in the league. If that’s what they want me to do to help the club win, I’m more than willing to do that.”
