Holliday heads back to DL with another quad strain

Matt Holliday's return to the active roster was short-lived. The St. Louis Cardinals' outfielder was put on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, the team announced, after he sustained a right quad strain in Tuesday's game against Cincinnati.

Holliday was attempting to break up a double play when he injured the quad, the same injury that forced him to miss a month of action earlier this season. He initially injured the quad on June 8 and wasn't activated until July 18.
It's been a difficult year health-wise for the typically durable veteran. The 35-year-old has played in just 63 of the team's 101 games. He's batting .290 with four home runs and 31 RBI, and an .830 OPS.
