Hammel's MRI reveals no damage

The Cubs and their fans can breathe a big sigh of relief as Jason Hammel's MRI revealed no scrutural damage.
“It was a best-case scenario,” Hammel told the Chicago Sun-Times. “As of right now the outlook’s good. I’m pretty optimistic. Over the last 36 hours it’s been good improvement. As long as it keeps progressing as it is, we’ll be good to go.”
However, the fact that Hammel left Wednesday's start early and had to undergo an MRI was a reminder of just how quickly disaster can strike.
“Scare’s probably a good word,” Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer told the Chicago Sun-Times. “It makes you realize every team, every pitcher can go down at any time, and you have to have the depth to handle it. … We know we still have to continue to push that.”
