The Chicago Cubs head into the weekend feeling great about themselves. They're hot and on Thursday night they regained an edge in the wild-card race with a 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants.
With three more games left in the series, Chicago has an opportunity to put a little distance between it and the defending champions. The Cubs enter Friday's game with a one-half game lead over the Giants. They can also potentially close the gap on the Pittsburgh Pirates, who own a 3.5-game lead over the Cubs for the first wild-card spot.
The Pirates won't have an easy weekend with the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers in town.
