Castellanos, Candelario out of starting lineup for Tigers

Published May. 13, 2018 12:45 p.m. ET

DETROIT (AP) Nicholas Castellanos is out of the starting lineup for the Detroit Tigers for Sunday's game against Seattle after he injured a finger on his left hand Saturday.

Niko Goodrum is set to start in Castellanos' spot in right field, and third baseman Jeimer Candelario isn't starting either because of a sore wrist. Pete Kozma is in the lineup at third.

Castellanos was hit by a pitch in the first inning of the second game of Saturday's doubleheader , and he left soon after that. Detroit is nowhere near full strength heading into Sunday's matchup with Seattle's James Paxton, who threw a no-hitter at Toronto in his previous start. The Tigers are also without slugger Miguel Cabrera and outfielder Leonys Martin, who are on the disabled list with hamstring strains.
