Four-star LB Laguins announces commitment to Georgia

One of the nation's top linebackers has committed to Georgia, deciding to stay in-state to play his college ball. Jaleel Laguins, a four-star recruit and Scout's 11th-ranked outside linebacker in the country, announced his commitment Wednesday to the Bulldogs, who play only about 15 minutes from his home in Oconee County, Ga.

Laguins told Scout that he actually verbally committed to Georgia about a month ago but waited for the right moment to announce the decision publicly.

"I can say it was a tough decision," Laguins told Scout regarding his commitment. "Auburn was right there, and it was Georgia over Auburn for me, with Florida and Tennessee next. It was not easy."

The 6-foot-2, 216-pound Laguins also said, according to Scout, that he initially expected to go out of state but eventually changed his mind, thanks in large part to the Georgia coaching staff.

"I was thinking at the beginning that I would never go to Georgia," Laguins told Scout. "After I got the offer and gave them a look, my feelings started to change. I just got comfortable there, the coaches are great people, and now, I know UGA is where I want to be."
