Beathard settling into starting role with Hawkeyes

There is a lot riding on how well C.J. Beathard performs this season in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes are coming off a disappointing 7-6 record that was finished off by a loss to Tennessee in the TaxSlayer Bowl.

The coaching staff made the switch to Beathard after the season which is the reason former starter Jake Rudock is at Michigan now. Now, this is C.J.'s team and he is looking forward to the challenge:

“This is what I came here for, to be the starting quarterback and to lead the team,” Beathard said. “This is the role I’ve been working toward since I arrived and now it’s up to me make the most of it.”

The potential is certainly there for Beathard to have a big season but he will have to be smart. There are no other quarterbacks on the roster with any game experience so keeping him upright will be hugely important.
