Giants rookie WR Geremy Davis puts together another strong practice

Rueben Randle was sitting out of Wednesday's joint practice between the New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals, and at the top of the Giants' depth chart, Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz remain on a pitch count. This has opened up an opportunity for other wide receivers on the roster to step up, and Giants rookie Geremy Davis has answered the call.

Davis stood out during Tuesday's joint practice with the Bengals and he was at it again during Wednesday's practice. Davis went to work during 7-on-7 team drills lined up against the Bengals' first team defense. He hauled in several passes from quarterback Eli Manning and even made a spectacular touchdown reception, from a Manning pass, that you can find here:

Later during the team drills, the Giants worked Davis in with the first team offense during red zone drills with Manning. Davis has made plays throughout camp, but this was his best practice yet, and his most meaningful one. He got extender work with the first team and Mr. Manning.

The Giants have a crowded wide receiver corps, but after Beckham, Cruz and Randle, things open up a bit. Free agent acquisition James Jones is expected to compete with second year receiver Corey Washington for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart. Preston Parker is also in the mix. However, if Davis can string together more practices like this one, he could eventually jump these three receivers in the pecking order.
