Monday Night Football top plays: Mahomes, Chiefs narrowly escape Giants

Throws pick in win Mahomes completed 29 of 48 passes for 275 yards, a touchdown and an interception in Monday night's 20-17 win over the Giants. He also rushed three times for 10 yards.

Impact Mahomes connected on his first eight passes before having an attempt bounce off the helmet of a teammate and then intercepted in the end zone to halt Kansas City's opening drive. That play gave Mahomes a seventh straight outing with at least one pick and he flirted a couple others Monday night as well. Nonetheless, the signal-caller still did enough to lead the Chiefs to victory, mostly by utilizing Tyreek Hill on crossing routes and finding targets close to the line of scrimmage. Although it again wasn't a pretty performance by Mahomes' standards, he'll now approach a Week 9 showdown against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers coming off a needed victory.

Impact Mahomes was shook up during his team's Week 7 loss to the Titans, but the QB -- who was replaced by Chad Henne in the fourth quarter of the contest -- subsequently cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and approaches Monday night's game against the Giants free of any injury concerns, per coach Andy Reid, via Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. Seven weeks into the 2021 season, Mahomes ranks fourth in the NFL with 2,093 passing yards and has thrown 18 TDs versus nine picks in that span while rushing 32 times for 219 yards and a score.
