Kam Thomas - Out for MTSU game Thomas was out for UTEP's 20-13 loss Saturday against Middle Tennessee State, Zay Galindo of 600 ESPN El Paso reports.

Impact An undisclosed problem prevented Thomas' availability Saturday. Without him available, three of UTEP's players (Ashton Nickelberry, Emari White and Jevon Jackson) updated their 2024 bests for targets. Currently, the Miners' next opponent is expected to be Kennesaw State. The two teams are scheduled for a game on Nov. 9.

Skyler Locklear - Injury revealed, out for MTSU game Locklear (concussion) was out for UTEP's 20-13 loss Saturday against Middle Tennessee State, Adrian Broaddus of 600 ESPN El Paso reports.

Impact Previously undisclosed, Locklear's injury is a concussion. Without him available, UTEP's team used JP Pickles as its quarterback Saturday. The healthy freshman logged 18 completions for 145 yards and a rushing touchdown against Middle Tennessee State.

Holden Willis - Out for UTEP game Willis (undisclosed) was out for Middle Tennessee State's 20-13 win Saturday at UTEP, Cecil Joyce of USA Today reports.

Impact Middle Tennessee State not being able to use Willis at UTEP benefited Evan Poticher the most. The freshman logged three receptions and 23 yards, his updated bests of any FBS game. Currently, MTSU's next matchup is scheduled for Nov. 9 against Liberty.

Kenny Odom - Held to 19 yards Odom caught four passes for 19 yards against MTSU on Saturday.

Impact There was worry for Odom's upside once Skyler Locklear (undisclosed) got hurt and true freshman JP Pickles seemed primed to start. That did prove accurate. Pickles completed 18 passes and had 19 rushing attempts, and this passing game is in trouble until if and when Locklear returns.

Jevon Jackson - Overl 100 total yards Jackson ran 21 times for 83 yards and had five catches for 33 yards Saturday against MTSU.

Impact While Jackson didn't rush for over 100 yards, he did have over 100 yards total for the third game in a row. Jackson actually led the Miners in catches and receiving yards, mostly because quarterback JP Pickles can't really throw the ball and is only a threat with his legs.

JP Pickles - Better on ground than through air Pickles went 18-for-33 for 145 yards and an interception against MTSU on Saturday. He also ran 19 times for 77 yards and a touchdown.

Impact Pickles, a true freshman, was thrust into a start due to injury. Clearly, he, and the staff, trust his legs more than his arm. That makes sense given how Pickles looked here. He had a 16.6 QBR against one of the worst pass defense's in the FBS.
