Impact Smith spent the 2025 season with Rhode Island, where he caught three passes for 13 yards and one touchdown. He'll join the Bearkats with one season of eligibility remaining, and the 6-foot-5, 245-pound tight end will look to make an instant impact in Sam Houston's offense.

Impact Berry-Johnson will transfer from Wisconsin to Sam Houston. Ideally for him, being part of Sam Houston's team is how he logs his first reception. Between two seasons for UW, Berry-Johnson recorded two targets.

Alton McCaskill - Able to suit up Saturday McCaskill (undisclosed) notched eight carries for 32 yards during Saturday's 56-16 defeat versus Florida International.

Impact McCaskill was previously listed as questionable ahead of Saturday's contest due to an undisclosed injury, but was able to give it a go against the Panthers. The 6-foot-2 running back was mostly held in check in his limited opportunities against FIU, running for 32 scoreless yards on just eight rushing attempts. McCaskill will finish the season with 371 yards and a touchdown on 4.2 yards per attempt on the ground across eight games for Sam Houston this season, hauling in nine receptions for 66 yards and a score through the air as well. With Sam Houston finishing just 2-10 on the year and with no remaining eligibility left, McCaskill has played his final collegiate game.

Impact O'Neill did basically nothing all season, and then over the last two weeks of the season he totaled 16 catches. This was also his first, and only, touchdown of the season. Better late than never.

Landan Brown - Rushes for TD Brown ran seven times for 34 yards and a touchdown against FIU on Saturday.

Impact Brown was close to a bright spot for Sam Houston this season, and as close as anybody got to a bright spot, at the very least. He managed almost 500 yards on the ground with five touchdowns, and he added 37 receptions. From Sam Houston's perspective, he also probably wasn't quite good enough to merit much intrigue in the portal, so Brown might stick around.

Impact Green was questionable for this game after missing two contests, but he was able to play. That's good, as this was his final game of collegiate eligibility. Green did some things at North Carolina and Indiana, but his healthy got in his way after dropping down to Conference USA.

Landyn Locke - One TDs, three turnovers Locke went 14-for-30 for 121 yards, one touchdown, and two interception against FIU on Saturday. He also lost a fumble.

Impact Sam Houston probably isn't a big enough program to fire Phil Longo after one season, but this was one of the worst 2-10 teams in FBS history. Late in the season Longo turned to true freshman Locke at quarterback, perhaps in hopes it would earn him some cache with his bosses. Not so much, as Locke did not look like a viable FBS player this season.
