Impact Even with a touchdown, two catches against an FCS school is not remarkable, and even his three catches for 29 yards against Florida State doesn't look like much in hindsight after SMU threw for over 400 yards against Florida State in Week 1.

Impact In a vacuum anybody would be happy with 83 yards and a touchdown, but doing it on one catch, against an FCS opponent at that, feels more like a fluke.

TK King - Nets 94 yards King caught three passes for 94 yards against Mercyhurst on Saturday.

Impact It's worth noting this game was a blowout, 10 guys caught at least one pass, and King was the only player with more than two. Against Florida State, decidedly not a blowout, King had seven catches on 14 targets. He's clearly the number-one option in this passing game.

TJ Washington Jr. - Two TDs versus Mercyhurst Washington ran seven times for 43 yards and two touchdowns and had one 32-yard reception against Mercyhurst on Saturday.

Impact Washington also returned a kick for 56 yards, which speaks to some degree of big-play ability as well. An Iowa transfer, Washington got buzz in the offseason, but he didn't do much in Week 0 against Florida State. After two games, though, it does seem Washington has jumped Dijon Stanley to be second in the pecking order behind James Jones.

James Jones - Much better in second game Jones ran 19 times for 137 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for a 2-yard touchdown versus Mercyhurst on Saturday.

Impact Transferring in after a big year at Delaware State, Jones' first game with NMSU was a trip to Florida State. He ran 11 times for 28 yards. This was, obviously, much better, but of course it was against an FCS team. Jones' next two games after against Hawaii and New Mexico. We should get a better sense of what he can do against a middle-ground level of opponent.

Impact NMSU played in Week 0, so this is Hedden second start of the season, and his second start at the FBS level. This wasn't a great game given the opponent, but also this was a blowout and the backups were in by the end of the game, so in theory Hedden could have had better numbers.

Impact As a true freshman in 2024, Pride had over 400 total yards, but he fell out of favor in 2025. In fact, he was considered in the middle of the depth chart at receiver, so it is notable he was third in receptions and yards in this game.

TK King - Reels in TD King caught seven passes for 78 yards and a touchdown against FSU on Saturday.

Impact King, like water, has found his level. He couldn't get on the field with Texas Tech, he didn't make a splash with Wyoming, but he has a home with NMSU. Last year he had 41 catches for 588 yards and three touchdowns in eight games, and he made a splash in Week 0 against an ACC school.

Brodie Malone-Bradford - Catches TD in opener Malone-Bradford caught six passes for 96 yards and a score Saturday versus FSU.

Impact As a true freshman for NMSU last season, Malone-Bradford had 22 catches for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Given that, this performance on the road against Florida State has definitely put him on the radar.

James Jones - Rushes for 28 yards Jones ran 11 times for 28 yards versus FSU on Saturday.

Impact Jones averaged 9.8 yards per carry for Delaware State last season, and he was expected to be the lead back for the Aggies in this game. Indeed, he was, but he also had the lowest yards per carry of four NMSU running backs.

Trey Harris - Two TDs, INT in NMSU debut Hedden went 26-for-42 for 272 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception against FSU on Saturday.

Impact This is impressive for Hedden in his FBS debut, especially given the opponent. However, be cautious. At Furman, Hedden was a statue in the pocket (he had minus-21 rushing yards in this game) and was heavily prone to turnovers.

Roscoe Burton - Doesn't play in opener Burton (undisclosed) didn't play in the Week 0 loss to FSU on Saturday.

Impact Burton missed the entire 2025 season and was also unable to suit up for the 2026 opener. But even if he returns in the near future, he's likely to have a depth role on offense and not much else, making his fantasy appeal limited.

Impact Lydiatt missed the majority of the 2025 season due to an undisclosed injury, but he's been healthy both in the spring and in the fall, and he seems primed to have a big role on offense. During his last healthy season in 2024, Lydiatt recorded seven receptions for 39 yards and one touchdown with the Aggies. All signs point to him opening the season as the TE1 ahead of Carson Su'esu'e and Josiah Thomas.

Impact Libman spent the 2025 season at Stanford, catching seven passes for 84 yards and a touchdown across eight games, and he figures to have a big role in the offense in this new year. He's listed as a starting wideout alongside TK King and AJ Williams.

James Jones - Likely starter for Week 0 Jones is listed as the starter for Week 0 against Florida State.

Impact Jones drew praise from the coaching staff during the spring, and he'll open the season as the starter in the backfield. Jones, who joined the Aggies in January after spending one season with Delaware State, rushed 98 times for 958 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025 and will see the bulk of the playing time at RB ahead of TJ Washington and Dijon Stanley.
