ImpactFlavors was replaced in the starting five by Avery Anderson, who contributed defensively along with 11 points. This was a surprising and abrupt move by coach Mike Boynton, as Flavors had started the previous seven contests and averaged 19.1 mpg over that span, twice reaching double figures. Now with a long break ahead -- the Cowboys are not scheduled for another game until Jan. 2 -- it's unclear what Flavors will have for a role in 2021.

ImpactThe report did not specify if Kouma was dealing with an injury or other extenuating circumstance -- it simply said he was "out" (which may have also been in reference to the starting lineup). Kouma had started the last two games for the Cowboys, but played for only three minutes in the Dec. 16 matchup against TCU. He's seen double-digit minutes just once this season -- his first start of the year Dec. 12 against Wichita State. The role isn't particularly big even when part of the starting five, but Kouma's status remains worth monitoring after a long projected break. Kouma and the Cowboys are not scheduled for another game until Jan. 2 at Texas Tech.
