Men's Basketball Poll Watching Week 14: Frogs Drop Again After the loss to Oklahoma State, TCU now sits at No. 17/19 in this week’s polls

Pokes Spur Frogs, TCU Men's Basketball Falls To Oklahoma State TCU men’s basketball fell just short of a 19-point comeback in Stillwater, lose to Oklahoma State 79-73.
1 DAY AGO • STAR-TELEGRAM.COM
Avery Anderson - Out indefinitely Anderson (wrist) will undergo surgery and remain out indefinitely, per Jacob Unruh of The Oklahoman.
Impact Anderson missed the Cowboys' win over TCU with his wrist injury, and will now miss an extended, unspecified period of time. The point guard had started every game prior to missing Oklahoma State's tilt with the Horned Frogs, and was putting up 11.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists. It's a big loss for the Cowboys, who now have to find a replacement facilitator to run their offense. Caleb Asberry and John-Michael Wright are among the candidates to see their minutes increase with Anderson out of the picture.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Avery Anderson - DNP vs. TCU Anderson (wrist) did not play during Oklahoma State's 79-73 win Saturday versus TCU.
Impact Anderson's next opportunity to return is when the Cowboys host Texas Tech on Wednesday.
2 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
John-Michael Wright - Efficient during increased run Wright notched 17 points (6-10 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and two blocks across 37 minutes during Saturday's 79-73 victory over TCU.
Impact Wright finished as the Cowboys' second-leading scorer behind big man Kalib Boone (25). The 6-foot-1 senior hasn't posted much consistent scoring during Big 12 play, though he's now scored in double figures during three of the past four contests. Wright is still just shooting 37.5 percent overall compared to 36.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc, where he takes 5.0 of his 8.3 field-goal attempts per game. He's also averaging 9.2 points and just 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, so Wright's overall production should continue to be tied to his three-point shooting moving forward.
3 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Moussa Cisse - Plays 21 minutes off the bench Cisse logged six points (3-6 FG, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, one assist and two blocks in 21 minutes during Saturday's 79-73 win over TCU.
Impact Cisse logged his most extensive playing time since going down with an ankle injury Jan. 2 against West Virginia. While the 7-foot-1 senior has come off the bench while appearing in five of the last six games, he's seen his playing time steadily increase while working his way back during this span. Cisse also logged 18 points and five rebounds in just 18 minutes during Wednesday's 71-61 win against Oklahoma. Therefore, it could be a matter of time before he returns to the starting lineup ahead of junior Woody Newton. Oklahoma State will next play this coming Wednesday versus Texas Tech, the latter of which has gone 1-9 in Big 12 play this season.
3 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Kalib Boone - Lights out in win Boone provided 25 points (11-15 FG, 3-6 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two steals over 28 minutes during Saturday's 79-73 victory over TCU.
Impact Boone finished with double-digit made field-goal attempts for the first time this season, resulting in a season-high 25 points for the center. The 6-foot-9 senior has seen an increased role since senior center Moussa Cisse moved into a role off the bench over the last six games. As a result, Boone has enjoyed increased scoring production (17.8) while still snatching 4.5 boards per game during this span. Therefore, Boone should likely be considered Oklahoma State's most valuable fantasy player for the time being.
3 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Caleb Asberry - Cashes in during starting debut Asberry logged 19 points (5-9 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), five rebounds, three assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Saturday's 79-73 win over TCU.
Impact Asberry posted a season-high 19 points during his first start with Oklahoma State. The Texas State transfer appeared in 20 games off the bench to begin the 2022-23 campaign, averaging 7.6 points and 3.4 boards over 24.1 minutes per game. However, Asberry was able to capitalize with a season-high seven free-throw attempts en route to his best shooting performance as a Cowboy. Expect him to continue stepping up in the starting lineup so long as Avery Anderson remains out after missing his first game of the season with a wrist injury Saturday. Oklahoma State's next game will come versus Texas Tech on Wednesday.

Avery Anderson - Not in starting five Saturday Anderson (wrist) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against TCU.
Impact Anderson was previously deemed doubtful to play as he continues to work his way back from a wrist injury. With the senior guard now officially removed from the starting lineup, it appears he'll almost certainly remain out until at least Wednesday's contest versus Texas Tech. In Anderson's stead, fellow senior Caleb Asberry, who transferred in from Texas State this offseason, will make his starting debut for the Cowboys.
3 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Caleb Asberry - Gets starting nod Asberry is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game versus TCU.
Impact Asberry will replace Avery Anderson (wrist) in the starting five Saturday. The senior guard will make his first start of the season.
3 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Avery Anderson - Now deemed doubtful Anderson (wrist) is doubtful to play in Saturday's game versus TCU, Cody Nagel of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact Anderson is considered doubtful Saturday after being expected to be limited earlier. His next chance to suit up is Wednesday's matchup with Texas Tech if he's ruled out against TCU.
3 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Avery Anderson - Expected to be limited Anderson will be limited for Saturday's game versus TCU due to a lingering wrist injury, Jacob Unruh of The Oklahoman reports.
Impact Anderson hurt his wrist last month but has been playing through it. The senior point guard has started in all 22 of his appearances this season.

Sherfield leads Oklahoma against Oklahoma State

Oklahoma hosts the Oklahoma State Cowboys after Grant Sherfield scored 30 points in Oklahoma's 93-69 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide

Listen: OSU's basketball season goes off the rails (Biddle & Scotty Vegas on The Fan) Ohio State's men's basketball season has gone completely off the rails. The Buckeyes are just 1-7 in their last eight games and find themsel...

Kalib Boone - Logs 18 points, four rebounds again Boone closed with 18 points (6-6 FG, 6-8 FT), four rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 22 minutes during Saturday's 82-60 win over Ole Miss.
Impact Boone almost perfectly replicated his stat line from Tuesday's loss to Texas when he also logged 18 points and four rebounds. However, he accumulated six more free-throw attempts in Saturday's win, as the 6-foot-9 senior posted a new season high in this category. Boone's overall production this season has largely improved since the opening of Big 12 play Dec. 31, averaging 13. points and 2.0 blocks during this span. He's also posting 5.1 rebounds per contest, though his tansy upside will likely continue to be tied to this stat moving forward.
JANUARY 29 • ROTOWIRE
Caleb Asberry - Minor contributions in win Asberry recorded six points (2-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes during Saturday's 82-60 victory over Ole Miss.
Impact Asberry continued to provide little in the way of scoring, as he's only finished with double-digit points in two of his 19 starts this season. The 6-foot-3 senior has primarily served as a three-point specialist for the Cowboys, taking 4.6 of his 6.1 field-goal attempts per game from beyond the arc. However, he's only hitting 35.2 percent from three-point land, making Asberry a very limited player in terms of fantasy relevance.
JANUARY 29 • ROTOWIRE
Quion Williams - Six boards in big win Williams totaled five points (2-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt), six rebounds and one block in 18 minutes during Saturday's 82-60 win over Ole Miss.
Impact Williams logged his most extensive playing time since the Nov. 27 game against Prairie View A&M. The 6-foot-4 freshman saw very limited usage from December to mid-January, though he's now averaged 14.6 minutes across the last five games. Williams is still posting just 3.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per game during this span, so he won't be worth fantasy consideration unless he moves up into the starting rotation at some point this season.
JANUARY 29 • ROTOWIRE
Woody Newton - Posts double-digit points again Newton posted 12 points (5-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and one block over 22 minutes during Saturday's 82-60 victory over Ole Miss.
Impact Newton started his fourth game in a row in place of 7-foot-1 senior Moussa Cisse, whom missed the Cowboys' previous contest against Texas due to an ankle injury. While Cisse was on the floor Saturday, he only played seven minutes off the bench. As a result, Newton played more than 20 minutes for the fifth time in the past six games. Newton has averaged 7.8 points and 4.8 rebounds over this span, making him a suitable fantasy replacement so long as Cisse remains limited by injury.
JANUARY 29 • ROTOWIRE
Avery Anderson - Thrives at FT line in big win Anderson logged 17 points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 11-11 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 22 minutes during Saturday's 82-60 win over Ole Miss.
Impact Anderson attempted just under half of the Cowboys' 25 combined three-throw attempts Saturday. As a result, the 158-pound point guard came up one point shy of his highest mark of the season. Anderson has now averaged 4.3 free-throw attempts per game this season, so his value will still primarily be tied to his moderate 8.7 field-goal tries per game. He's also averaged 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists this season, making him a solid all-around fantasy option.
