Air Force does not complete a pass, beats Northern Illinois in the Huskies' first Mountain West game
DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Evan Medders and Owen Allen combined for more than 200 yards rushing and four scores for Air Force, and the Falcons beat Northern Illinois 28-7 on Saturday night in the Mountain West Conference inaugural for the Huskies.
Medders ran 16 times for 114 yards and Allen had 13 carries for 100 yards. In the third quarter, Allen scored on a 33-yard run and Medders broke loose for a 41-yard touchdown. They each had a short-yardage touchdown run in the first half that gave Air Force (4-1, 2-1) a 14-7 halftime lead.
Quarterback Kemper Hodges added 52 yards rushing on 11 carries but threw just one pass and it was incomplete.
Taron Dickens was 13-of-20 passing for 140 yards and threw one interception for Northern Illinois (0-5, 0-1). Telly Johnson Jr. had a 9-yard touchdown run and finished with 47 yards rushing.
