Corey Davis - Headed for season-ending surgeryJets head coach Robert Saleh said Monday that Davis will undergo season-ending core-muscle surgery.
ImpactDavis lasted just 24 plays in Sunday's loss to the Eagles before checking out of the contest after aggravating the groin injury that previously sidelined him for the Week 12 win over the Texans. The core-muscle injury was more than likely related to the hip issue that also sidelined Davis for Weeks 8 and 9, so the Jets are seemingly hopeful that surgery will be able to address the matter once and for all. Signed to a three-year, $37.5 million contract this offseason with the hope that he would emerge as a bona fide No. 1 wideout for New York, Davis finishes his inaugural campaign with the Jets with 34 receptions for 492 yards and four touchdowns on 59 targets over nine appearances. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, most core-muscle procedures carry 8-to-10-week recovery timelines, so Davis should be back at 100 percent -- or close to it -- for OTAs.
