At WWE Roadblock, Sasha Banks defended the Raw Women’s Championship against Charlotte in a 30-minute Iron Man match.

Leading up to WWE Roadblock, Sasha Banks and Charlotte have traded the Raw Women’s Championship several times. In fact, over the past six months the title has changed hands five times – always between these two.

Sasha and Charlotte have competed in the main event of Raw and pay-per-view events. They’ve torn it up inside Hell in a Cell, the first women in WWE to do so. And this time, they’re competing in a 30-minute Iron Man match.

What’s more, Sasha Banks has dedicated her current reign as Women’s Champion to Ric Flair. Charlotte, while having no love lost for her father, is furious at this turn of events. Surely emotions will be running high at Roadblock.

It’s been announced that there will be no rematch clause in this championship contest. Whoever loses, there’s no second chance. Both competitors will move on – one as the Raw Women’s Champion, one as just another wrestler.

Let’s check out the highlights of this one.

The first couple of minutes were a bit of a feeling out process. Both women were eager to gain an advantage. But neither was willing to put themselves at a disadvantage, either.

The intensity picked up at around the 7-minute mark. As the action headed to the outside, Sasha hit Charlotte with a leaping double knee smash from the apron to the floor.

At around the 10-minute mark – still scoreless – Sasha continued her high risk attack with a suicide dive.

Not too long after that, Sasha took a nasty bump off the ring steps. Charlotte swept the leg, sending Banks face first off the apron and into the steps.

The referee deemed the champ fit to continue, but Charlotte still held an advantage. Still scoreless midway through the match, Charlotte strung together a combo of a backbreaker into a neckbreaker.  She then further attacked the head and neck, repeatedly slamming Sasha into the mat.

With 13 minutes left, Sasha tried to fight back, but mostly to no avail. However, Charlotte was unable to score a fall – even after Natural Selection.

Just about twenty minutes into the match, Charlotte finally got on the scoreboard, hitting a Natural Selection from the top rope for a pinfall.

With eight minutes remaining, Sasha evened the score with a headscissors into a crucifix pinfall.

Charlotte went for a moonsault, but Sasha rolled out of the way and ocuntered with a Banks Statement. After repositioning in the center of the ring, Banks forced Charlotte to tap out. This put The Boss up 2-1 with about six minutes to go.

Needing a comeback, Charlotte went to work on Sasha’s knee. A vicious kick took out the left knee of the champ. With less than three minutes left, Charlotte hit the knee with a chop block. She continued to wrench the knee with a leg lock.

With around two minutes left, Charlotte locked in the Figure Four, but Sasha refused to tap. After over a minute and a half in the hold, though, Charlotte bridged into the Figure Eight, and Sasha tapped out with three seconds left in the match.

Because time ran out while the score was tied at two, the referee decided to continue the match under sudden death rules.

Charlotte continued her assault on Sasha’s injured knee. Banks hit the straightjacket neckbreaker, but couldn’t capitalize with the Banks Statement because of the pain in the leg.

Sasha finally locked in the Banks Statement, but Charlotte powered through and countered with a Figure Four. Eventually, she bridged into the Figure Eight, forcing a bloody Banks to tap out.

Sasha was helped to the back by officials, while Charlotte celebrated in the ring, the four-time – and new – Raw Women’s Champion.

With this rivalry finally coming to an end, where do you think the Raw women’s division will go from here?
