WWE No Mercy 2016 results: Miz vs Dolph Ziggler full video highlights
A look at the latest WWE No Mercy 2016 results for The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler in a “Career vs. Title” match with full video highlights.
Dolph Ziggler has failed in two recent attempts to capture The Miz’s Intercontinental Championship. At Sunday’s WWE No Mercy 2016 event, he got a third opportunity to win the title, but with a serious stipulation hanging over his head. On an episode of SmackDown ahead of the pay-per-view, Ziggler and Miz got into a heated discussion in the ring. That led to Ziggler passionately pleading for Miz to allow him another shot at the title. The champion agreed, but only after Dolph had added his career to the match.
Basically, if Dolph Ziggler is unable to win the championship from Miz on Sunday night, it means his career with WWE is over. Ziggler will no longer be a part of the company, while Miz will walk away still carrying the Intercontinental title belt. The “Show Off” would also need to watch out for Miz’s wife Maryse at ringside.
Ziggler went for the quick start against Miz. While he missed on a Superkick he connected on a big dropkick and then took out Miz over the top rope to the floor. He continued his attack on the outside and then hit another big dropkick in the ring for another quick pinfall attempt.
The Intercontinental Champion quickly responded with several big moves to gain control. With his wife Maryse at ringside, Miz had his share of early pinfall attempts to try to end Ziggler’s career. He also taunted SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan with a mock “Yes” chant in the ring.
At one point, Miz blocked a Superkick attempt and turned it into a suplex for a near fall. He followed that up with a big series of dropkicks as he ran from one corner of the ring to dropkick Ziggler in the opposite corner. Ziggler responded to one of those to save himself for the moment.
Ziggler had a flurry of offense against Miz in one of the corners including a Stinger Splash move. Once again, it was only for a near fall. Miz attempted to hit a counter move on Ziggler moments later, but Dolph countered that for an impressive Sunset Flip near fall.
Later in the match, Miz climbed to the corner turnbuckle, but Dolph crotched him. Ziggler followed up by climbing up and grabbing Miz for a Superplex attempt but the champ blocked that. Miz flipped underneath and tried for a Powerbomb which Dolph tried to counter, but Miz was able to turn it into a Figure Four leg lock. The challenger managed to escape the submission and received a rallying chant in his favor from the crowd.
An exposed turnbuckle came into play moments later. Miz sent Dolph face-first into the steel and then hit a Powerbomb by bouncing Dolph off the ropes. Ziggler kicked out of the pin at the last second.
There were several near finishes. Ziggler hit a Zig Zag and the crowd thought he had the winning pinfall. Miz kicked out of that. Later, Dolph locked the Sleeper Hold on the champion but Miz grabbed the bottom rope.
Not long after that, Maryse tried to use that spray can from ringside. She sprayed Dolph in the face and Miz thought he had the match. Ziggler managed to get a leg on the ropes to prevent the pin. Right after that, Miz went to grab Dolph by the leg but yanked his boot off. Dolph connected on a Super Kick with his exposed foot, but couldn’t crawl over to pin Miz.
Ziggler’s old pals from the Spirit Squad ran down next. They both hopped up on the apron and the ref saw them causing a commotion. Dolph kicked both guys off the apron. They tried to get involved some more but the ref had seen enough at that point. He told the Spirit Squad guys and Maryse they were ejected from ringside.
During the commotion, Miz became distracted as he saw his wife and helpers heading backstage. Dolph capitalized right after with a huge Superkick to take down Miz and grab the winning pinfall. Ziggler is the new Intercontinental Champion!

Many fans had expected this match would be the main event due to the heavy stakes for Dolph Ziggler. However, it came about halfway into the pay-per-view, making for an interesting twist. The bigger story was the finish which saw Dolp continue his career and capture the Intercontinental Championship. One has to wonder what’s next on the list for the “Show Off” now that he has saved his career.
