Sasha Banks just scared WWE fans to death with an emotional speech on Raw

Former WWE Women's Champion Sasha Banks hasn't wrestled since her brutal loss to Charlotte at SummerSlam, where she appeared to suffer a serious injury when Charlotte dropped her from the middle rope.

Banks soldiered on and finished the match, but obviously wasn't at 100 percent. She still managed to hit Charlotte with a heart-stopping Hurricanrana reversal, but would go on to lose her title and had to be helped out of the ring.

Banks' status has been a mystery over the last two weeks, but she sent a vague tweet Monday to announce that she would deliver some "bad news" on Monday night's episode of Raw.

Banks came to the ring in the third hour of the show and delivered a touching and emotional speech about the Women's Revolution in WWE and her role in helping WWE move forward from the embarrassing content of the Attitude Era and the "stupid butterfly" belt.

With the extent of her injuries unknown to fans, the entire segment felt dangerously similar to Daniel Bryan announcing he would be forced to retire due to injuries. WWE cleverly designed the segment so fans would freak out - and that's exactly what happened.

Fortunately for wrestling fans, it was [mostly] all a work. Dana Brooke interrupted Banks and threatened to take her out of the picture for good, but Banks retaliated by hitting her finisher and promising that she'd reclaim her Women's Championship at the upcoming Clash of Champions pay-per-view.
