The 88-48 win over SMU moved the Huskies to 16-0 this season and 4-0 in the American Athletic Conference. UConn’s last loss was to Stanford on Nov. 17, 2014 — a defeat that ended a 47-game win streak.

Three UConn players scored in double figures Saturday, led by Katie Lou Samuelson’s 28 points. And this one never was in a bit of doubt as the Huskies scored the first 21 points in the game.

The Huskies’ previous 90-game winning streak ended during the 2010 season. Both runs occurred under head coach Geno Auriemma, who has guided the Huskies to the past four national championships and 11 national championships since the 1995 season.

The men’s NCAA record is 88 straight wins by the UCLA Bruins from 1971-74.
