Quinyotta Pettaway had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Clemson beat No. 22 North Carolina 52-47 Thursday night, denying Tar Heels coach Sylvia Hatchell her 600th win at the school.

The result snapped a five-game losing streak for the Tigers (5-10, 1-3 ACC.) UNC was held to a season low in scoring and lost consecutive games for the first time this season.

Kelly Gramlich added 11 points for the Tigers, who lost their previous 53 games against ranked opponents.

Tierra Ruffin-Pratt and Chay Shagog had 11 points each for UNC (12-4, 2-2), which was able to dress 11 players for just the second time this season.

UNC shot 21.2 percent in the second half to lower its percentage to 28.8 for the game.

The Tar Heels took their last lead at 43-42 on Ruffin-Pratt's jumper at 7:27. But Gramlich's 3-pointer with 4:47 remaining put Clemson up for good at 46-43.
