Bentley scores 29 as Sun snap skid, beat Stars 93-90

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) Alex Bentley scored 29 points, Jonquel Jones had 10 of her career-best 14 in the fourth quarter. and the Connecticut Sun beat the San Antonio Stars 93-90 on Sunday to end a three-game skid.

Jasmine Thomas had 11 points, a career-high 10 assists and nine boards for Connecticut. Chiney Ogwumike tied a season high with 12 points and Kelly Faris scored 10. Jones added nine rebounds.

The Sun, ranked 11th in the AP WNBA Power Poll, trailed by seven after three quarters, but opened the fourth with a 20-4 run to take an 86-77 lead with 3:25 to play. Connecticut hit four 3-pointers during that stretch, including two by Jones, as San Antonio missed eight of its first nine field-goal attempts in the quarter.

Kayla McBride scored seven points in fewer than 90 seconds to help pull the last-ranked Stars within two with 45 seconds remaining, but Ogwumike responded with a step-through bank shot from the right block that essentially sealed it.

McBride led San Antonio (2-9) with 25 points.

The Sun (3-10) have won five straight against the Stars.
