Hector Lombard wants the winner of Rory Macdonald vs. Tarec Saffiedine

Following an injury that pushed him out of his bout on August 20 in China, Hector Lombard is eye balling a return to action and he wants to face the winner of the upcoming welterweight fight between Tarec Saffiedine and Rory MacDonald.

Lombard was originally scheduled to face Dong Hyun Kim at next weekend's UFC Fight Night card in Macau, China, but a back injury forced him to bow out of the contest.

The Cuban born fighter told UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani that he will avoid surgery, but was dealing with a rather painful back injury.  Lombard says he had a 'pretty big sized' cervical herniated disc that was pinching one of his nerves.

Thankfully surgery will not be required and instead just some rest and relaxation to allow his body time to recover.

When he's ready to go again, Lombard is currently looking at the top of the welterweight division and sees the upcoming main event fight between Rory MacDonald and Tarec Saffiedine as an intriguing matchup.  MacDonald will take on the former Strikeforce welterweight champion at the UFC Fight Night on FOX Sports 1 card in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on October 4.

Lombard is currently undefeated as a welterweight with a perfect 2-0 record thus far in the UFC, but would like to take a step up in competition for his next fight and the winner of MacDonald vs. Saffiedine certainly fits that bill.
