Cub Swanson says he broke his jaw and hand in loss to Max Holloway

After his rough submission loss to Max Holloway Saturday night on the main card of FOX UFC Fight Night, featherweight Cub Swanson sent a message on Twitter out to his followers that he'd injured himself pretty seriously in the process. According to the fighter, he fought through a broken jaw and hand against the young Hawaiian.

Swanson, a heavy puncher, has had serious hand breaks requiring surgery in the past. A new hand injury plus a fractured jaw could mean that he'll be sitting on the sidelines for awhile after losing two straight fights for the first time in his long career.

Prior to losing to Holloway, Swanson lost to former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar last year. For his part, Holloway's performance against the top contender Swanson was the most impressive of his career.

The 23 year-old has now won six straight fights and moves into or near the top five of the 145 pound division. The warrior Swanson seemed to hold no ill will towards his opponent, tweeting out to Holloway, "You did you're (sic) thing tonight. Congrats."
