CM Punk reveals what he said to Mickey Gall after UFC 203 loss

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:13 p.m. ET

CM Punk didn't have much to say to Mickey Gall in the lead up to their fight, especially after he rebuffed the undefeated prospect when he attempted to shake hands at the weigh-ins just 24-hours ahead of UFC 203.

At that time, Gall had plenty to say to Punk out of anger and disrespect as the former WWE superstar refused to show a little sportsmanship ahead of their showdown on Saturday night.

"When he didn't shake my hand and he was giving me that hard look I said 'you're an actor, you're still acting'," Gall said after UFC 203 was finished. "I said 'we're fighting tomorrow, you know what's going to happen, I'm going to hurt you' and then he kept staring at me as I walked off, I said 'keep looking at me'."

Well Gall followed through on his promise as he made short work of Punk with a lopsided first round finish that ended with a rear naked choke just over two minutes into the fight.

Afterwards, Punk approached Gall inside the Octagon and finally spoke to his opponent about everything that had just transpired.

Punk may have created a stand off with Gall before the fight, but afterwards the only thing he had to say to the man who just beat him in his UFC debut were words of encouragement.

"In interviews and stuff like that, he would say things speaking about himself like he didn't belong in the UFC and he didn't belong on the main card," Punk revealed at the UFC 203 post fight press conference. "I told him everyone else is going to say that about you throughout your entire career, why are you going to say that about yourself?

The whole week leading up to the fight, Gall had stated that he didn't feel like he belonged on the main card or the poster advertising the show where his face was featured instead of former champions like Urijah Faber.

Once the fight was over, Gall was singing a slightly different tune after getting a taste of the main card at UFC 203.

"I'd like to stay on the main card now," Gall stated. "I got a little taste of it and I really like it."
