Andrew Todhunter vs. Albert Tumenov scratched from UFC 188: Velasquez vs. Werdum

Published Jun. 12, 2015 2:17 a.m. ET

A late change has been made to the UFC 188 fight card after welterweight newcomer Andrew Todhunter was deemed medically ineligible to compete in his matchup against Albert Tumenov on the prelims.

UFC officials announced the cancellation on Thursday night.

Todhunter apparently suffered ill effects from a rather brutal weight cut and officials were not on board to allow him to continue with the fight as scheduled.

Tumenov will still weigh-in on Friday to receive his contracted 'show' money but he will not receive a replacement opponent at this late hour with the card just over a day away.

Todhunter was making his UFC debut after accepting the fight on short notice where he replaced Hector Urbina, who fell off the card due to injury.

UFC 188: Velasquez vs. Werdum will move forward with 11 total fights and a new start time at 7pm ET for the early prelims airing live on UFC Fight Pass before shifting to FX at 8pm ET for the UFC 188 prelims.
