The WTA's Brussels Open has folded after three years because it has become too expensive to stage.
The tennis tournament was a clay-court event in the week before the French Open, and drew top players like Caroline Wozniacki, Agnieszka Radwanska and Marion Bartoli.
The tournament says ''the current economic context and the ever-increasing investments to meet the demands of the WTA for the Premier label made it a difficult, near impossible task.''
The 2013 edition, which offered $250,000 in prize money, was hit by bad spring weather and poor crowds. Kaia Kanepi of Estonia won the title.
