Tendulkar falls short of 100th century again

Published Jan. 14, 2012 9:28 a.m. ET

India batsman Sachin Tendulkar again missed out on his 100th international century during the third cricket test against Australia at the WACA ground on Saturday.

Tendulkar was trapped lbw for 8 runs by leftarm swing bowler Mitchell Starc in a big setback for India, which trailed by 208 after the first innings. On Friday, Tendulkar was dismissed lbw after scoring 15 runs.

The 187-test veteran will get one last opportunity on Australian soil to reach the milestone century when the two teams meet in the fourth and final test starting in Adeliade on Jan. 24.

Tendulkar, the greatest batsman of modern cricket, arrived and left to a standing ovation from a sellout crowd that probably saw him in action for the last time in Perth.
