Husband: Hingis and mom beat me up

Martina Hingis' estranged husband, who made headlines by accusing the tennis star of being a serial cheater earlier this year, now claims Hingis and her mother beat him up.

Thibault Hutin, a 26-year-old French equestrian, told Swiss newspapers he was assaulted at home by Hingis, her mother Melanie Molitor and the mother's boyfriend. He says he was beaten, scratched and hit in the head with a DVD player, and that he needed the police to get his credit card and passport back.

“They wanted to kill me. I’m shocked! I never thought it would go so far," said Hutin, who says he has moved into a hotel as he awaits a divorce and intends to return to Paris.

Hingis won three consecutive Australian Opens, one Wimbledon title and one US Open between 1997 and 1999, and was the world’s No. 1 for 209 weeks. She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Rhode Island this year.

After an early retirement due to injury in 2002 at the age of 22, Hingis made a return to tennis in 2006, but quit a year later after testing positive for cocaine in a routine drug test.

In July, Hutin told SonntagsBlick: “A year after the wedding [. . .] we were supposed to meet in New York and I wanted to give her a surprise.

“Upon arriving at the hotel room it was me that was surprised, because Martina was not alone.”

Hutin added “late last year I found out that she had cheated on me again.”

Hingis told Swiss magazine Schweizer Illustrierten that the pair has been separated since the beginning of the year.

“Martina has a very personal conception of morality,” Hutin told the Swiss newspaper. "She has always been like that; I think she has always been unfaithful to her boyfriends.”

Hingis is now reported to be in a relationship with David Tosas Ros, a Spanish sports management executive, according to the report.

“They shared the hotel room there and they paraded themselves in public in the Bois de Boulogne,” Hutin said. “There are even pictures of them. You can imagine how painful it was for me.”

Hingis has not responded to Hutin’s claims.
