West Brom fans pledge to make up for throwing coin at Chris Brunt

After West Brom's embarrassing FA Cup exit to Reading on Saturday, ChrisBrunt was the only player who had walked over to face the music and applaud the dejected pack of away fans for their troubles. All he got in return was a coin to the face.

Brunt, who now sports a small cut under his eye, was understandably furious with the fan's action, saying he was "disgusted" and "ashamed."

In an effort to make amends for the assault, a group of West Brom supporters have now pledged to collect money for a charity of Brunt's choosing this coming weekend.

"I have supported Albion for 50 years but I was ashamed to be an Albion fan on Saturday," Debbie Green, the fan organizing the initiative, told BBC Sport.

"We want to show Albion fans are not all like that," Green added.

For the Baggies' Premier League game against Crystal Palace this Saturday, 30 of Green's fellow supporters will hold buckets outside the Hawthorns ground and around local pubs to raise the money. Brunt and the club are aware of the initiative and have given the fans the green light.

To "coin" an old phrase here, all's well that ends well...
