Villa eyeing up pair of Blues
Aston Villa are being linked with a double swoop for two Birmingham players - goalkeeper Ben Foster and defender Scott Dann.
The Sunday Mirror reports that Villa are pushing ahead with summer transfer business despite the uncertainty over whether Gerard Houllier can continue in his role as manager following his heart scare.
A decision is expected to be taken on the Frenchman's future within the next seven days, but he is thought to have made the signing of a left-sided centre-back a top priority.
Highly-rated Dann, 24, is also on Liverpool's radar but the chance of regular first-team football could persuade him to stay in the Second City.
And with Foster also wanting to stay in the Premier League following Blues' relegation, and Villa veteran Brad Friedel likely to leave, the prospect of two transfers from St Andrew's to Villa Park has arisen.
No player has made that switch since Alan Curbishley in 1983, but Liam Ridgewell and Craig Gardner have both made successful moves in the opposite direction in recent seasons.
