The 24-year-old lifted his shirt and tugged down his shorts to clearly expose bookmaker Paddy Power's name after scoring his second goal in the 80th minute of Thursday's game in Lviv, Ukraine.
The Irish bookmaker responded with congratulatory tweets for the equalizer, even before Portugal grabbed a late winner in the 3-2 victory, before later claiming credit for the "lucky" underwear briefly keeping Denmark in the game.
But the promotional underpants fell foul of tournament rules that ban "ambush" marketing.
UEFA regulations stipulate no advertising should appear on players' kit or cleats during the competition in Poland and Ukraine.
