Kenwyne Jones headed in a stoppage-time equalizer Sunday to give Stoke a 1-1 draw at Norwich and deny the newcomers their first victory since returning to the Premier League.
Ritchie de Laet had headed in Bradley Johnson's free kick in the 37th minute, and Norwich hung on to the lead after Jon Walters missed a penalty for Stoke in the 65th.
However, Leon Barnett was sent off in the incident that led to the spot kick and Norwich couldn't hold on as Jones headed in from close range in injury time.
It was the second straight draw for both teams to start the Premier League campaign.
It was the first time Carrow Road hosted topflight football since May 2005, but the 27,000-strong crowd had to watch Stoke dictate play early.
But Anthony Pilkington and Elliott Bennett had chances for Norwich in the first half, before Jonathan Woodgate fouled Bennett to set up a free kick for Norwich. Johnson sent a curling delivery into the far corner, and De Laet - a former Stoke defender on loan from Manchester United - glanced it into the net.
Stoke emerged with some purpose for the start of the second half, with Walters drilling wide from a tight angle after breaking into the right side of the Norwich box.
Walters then got ahead of Barnett and into the Norwich box before tumbling, and referee Neil Swarbrick ruled it a last-man foul and awarded a penalty before sending the Norwich defender off. Walters took the spot kick himself, but goalkeeper John Ruddy guessed correctly to make a fine save.
Stoke continued to press with its man advantage, and Ruddy had to tip away a swirling cross from Ryan Shotton, which looked like it might loop in.
Jones blasted over from close range, but the visitors' pressure finally paid off in the third minute of added time when the striker headed in Glenn Whelan's cross.
