Barnsley goalkeeper Luke Steele has expressed his disappointment at the time it is taking to finalise a new contract at Oakwell.

Steele's current deal expires at the end of the season and the 28-year-old has previously expressed a desire to stay with the Championship's bottom club.

However, with Barnsley currently without a manager following the departure of Keith Hill, Steele is being made to wait regarding his future.

"I won't lie, it's disappointing it has taken this long," said Steele in The Sun.

"Numbers have not been spoken about. They have told me they want to keep me and that's about it."

Steele joined the Tykes, initially on loan, from West Bromwich Albion almost five years ago and he has made over 170 appearances in total for the club.
