Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will have to miss four Bundesliga matches in a six-match ban, of which two have been suspended.

Huntelaar was sent off for a rough tackle from behind during a 1-0 win over Hannover in the Bundesliga last week.

He missed Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Bayern Munich, and will have to sit out three more matches - against Borussia Moenchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen.

The remaining two matches of the ban were suspended, and will come into force if he picks up another red card by Jan. 30, 2016.

The football federation's chief judge, Hans E. Lorenz, says it may issue similar probations in future, in cases of long suspensions if the player had not been red-carded before.
