Former Manchester United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz has confirmed his interest in the Tottenham manager's job.

Tottenham are searching for a new boss after the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas earlier this week, 24 hours after the heavy home defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

Sources in Portugal have claimed that Tottenham have sounded out former Real Madrid chief Queiroz about the vacancy at White Hart Lane

Queiroz, who is currently in charge of the Iran national team, admits he would like to return to the Premier League and that he would be interested in the Tottenham job.

The 60-year-old spent two spells as Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant manager at Manchester United between 2002 and 2008 and he admits it is one of his dreams to come back to the Premier League.

"I dream to come back to work in England another time," Queiroz is quoted as saying in Portuguese daily Record.

"Tottenham?. I have not received any call but Spurs is a club that I really appreciate a lot and I have great admiration for."
