Owen Hargreaves' Man United career could be over

The Manchester United career of midfielder Owen Hargreaves could be over after four-injury plagued years.

Hargreaves played only seconds against Sunderland last season, and limped off five minutes into a surprise start against Wolverhampton Wanderers in November with a torn hamstring.

''His contract is up at the end of the season but I don't know what is going to happen,'' United manager Alex Ferguson said Friday. ''(Chief executive) David Gill had a discussion with the boy last week. But no more than that. We have to make a decision.''

The 30-year-old Canadian-born England international has a shoulder injury that Ferguson does not believe he will recover from before the end of the season.

''It has just brought his season to an end,'' Ferguson said. ''He has just carried bad luck all the time he has been here. I am pretty sure he won't be playing this season.''
