New PSG deal for Makelele
Former France midfielder Claude Makelele has agreed a new one-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Makelele's future had been up in the air with his deal expiring at the end of the 2009/10 campaign and reports rife he could opt to hang up his boots.
However, the ambitions of PSG president Robin Leproux persuaded Makelele to commit to the capital club.
He told Canal Plus: "I'm relieved, because I believe in this club.
"There will be some important recruitment and the target is interesting - to make this an important club again in France.
"I share the ambitions of the coach and the club."
A Champions League and two-time Primera Division winner with Real Madrid, Makelele joined PSG in 2008 after a successful five-year stint at Chelsea during which he picked up two Premier League titles.
He played 31 games for PSG last term and helped the club to Coupe de France glory.
