The Croatia international came on as a second-half substitute in Spurs' surprise defeat by Wolves on Saturday following a lengthy lay-off. Modric fractured his fibula against Birmingham back in August but is now fully fit as he bids to help his side gain a Champions League berth. Having been given a standing ovation by the Tottenham faithful Modric is now keen to repay the support they have shown him. He told the club's official website: "The reception the fans gave me when I came on meant a lot to me. They have been great and I want to thank them for that. "I'm glad to be back but overall I'm disappointed because we lost the game. Now we just need to turn it around and win on Wednesday. "Three months is a long time and it's going to be difficult when you come back. I just need to take it step by step and hopefully I will be back to how I was before the injury very soon. "It's always better when you've got another game soon after a defeat because you can recover straight away. Hopefully we will play better than we did on Saturday."
