Nelson Mandela will receive Mexico's most prestigious award for a foreigner from President Felipe Calderon before Friday's World Cup opener between the two countries.

Calderon's office said Wednesday the Order of the Aztec Eagle would recognize the former South African president's ``efforts for peace and human equality, and his untiring struggle in favor of representative democracy.''

Calderon will attend Friday's match and will also meet with South African President Jacob Zuma.
