Liverpool-Cardiff City Preview

Liverpool will be looking to continue their title charge as they travel to Wales to play Cardiff City on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool (19-5-5) have won five games on the bounce, and last weekend's 3-0 win over rivals Manchester United moved them within four points of Premier League leaders Chelsea with one match in hand. With Chelsea facing fellow title challengers Arsenal over the weekend, this trip to Cardiff is a prime opportunity for Liverpool to further strengthen their title chances, but first-team coach Mike Marsh revealed nobody at the club is getting carried away.

"We haven't achieved anything yet," said Marsh. "We have nine games to go and are in the Champions League places. It has been well documented that we started the season wanting to finish in the top four and we are in with a shout of that. Anything more than a top-four finish would be a bonus.

"We are taking each game as it comes and just trying to win every game."

Saturday's hosts (6-7-17) have picked up just four points from their last six league games under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, leaving themselves three points from safety having played more games than many of the clubs above them. The Bluebirds have struggled all season, with only Crystal Palace (19) scoring fewer goals than Cardiff's 23 and only last-place Fulham conceding more (65) than City's 52 against.

"What we all have to ask ourselves individually is, 'what can we bring to the fight?'," said Cardiff full-back Fabio. "We have to give our all as individuals and as a team to ensure we stay in the Premier League. It doesn't matter who we are playing against when it gets to this stage. We need points and every match is an opportunity.

We must not look too far ahead. Survival will mean us picking up points here and there, game by game. It's an important factor to treat things that way. People will talk about 'six-pointers', but every game from now until the end of this season is going to be massive."

Cardiff have injury doubts over Ben Turner, Andrew Taylor and Mark Hudson (hamstring), while Liverpool are without Jose Enrique (knee).

Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners when these teams met at Anfield in December, with Luis Suarez scoring twice before halftime. The only other recent meeting between these clubs game in the 2012 League Cup final, which Liverpool won on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Rodgers' side are unbeaten in five away from home, winning four of those and scoring 15 goals. No team has found the net more times on the road this season than Liverpool (34).
