American defender Eric Lichaj has returned to action in a reserve-team match for Aston Villa following a five-month layoff caused by hip surgery.
The 23-year-old right back played the opening 45 minutes for Villa in its 7-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday.
Lichaj scored his first goal for Villa in his only appearance for the first team this season - a 2-0 home victory over Hereford in the second round of the League Cup on Aug. 23.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at second-tier Leeds.
