Laurent Koscielny is happy at Arsenal and believes the team can challenge for the Premier League title this year.

The 26-year-old defender enjoyed an impressive season with the Gunners last time out and was rewarded with a new long-term contract last month.

Although the likes of Robin van Persie and Alex Song continue to be linked with moves away from the Emirates Stadium, Koscielny insists the decision to sign was an easy one.

"I am happy here - I play for a big club, I am happy on the pitch and my family are happy here so I don't want to leave," the France international told the club's official website.

"This is the first club I have stayed at a club for more than two years. I want to stay because I have everything to be happy here.

"I like everyone who works at this club, I like the fans, I am very happy to play for the boss and my team-mates are nice, so my decision to stay was natural."

Koscielny believes the team have learnt from last year's difficulties and can look forward to a stronger challenge this season.

"If we start well, we can get into the race for the title," he added.

"We saw last year that we had some difficulties at the start of the season, but afterwards you saw the real team.

"You need to work together, win together and help team-mates, and if [our start to] the season is good we can do something in the league."
