The Arsenal midfielder's inclusion in Stuart Pearce's provisional squad for the UEFA European U21 Championship has raised a few eyebrows, with many of the opinion that the 19-year-old is in need of a rest. Having become a first-team regular at the Emirates this season, it is felt that Wilshere would be best advised to put his feet up once the Premier League season draws to a close. Pearce, though, has always maintained that he will select the best possible side to go in search of U21 Euros glory in northern Denmark. Wilshere, who has four senior caps to his name, understands that way of thinking and feels international honours at any level can only be beneficial to those involved and the country as a whole. "I'm looking forward to it, of course," he said. "It's a big international tournament. If I'm selected in the final 23, then I want to go there and win it. "Everyone seems to have their opinion on whether I should go or not but it is up to the managers. "I'm sure Stuart Pearce and Arsene Wenger will talk and Fabio Capello too. "But if I do go, and we win it, it can only be good for me. "This nation is too good not to win international honours. "And hopefully we can take it on to the senior side, similar to Germany at the last World Cup."
