Hoeness dismisses Dortmund

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has dismissed rivals Borussia Dortmund as a 'regional' side, saying they'll never be as big as his club.

Hoeness insists that whilst Bayern are a 'global' figure - Dortmund, despite being reigning Bundesliga champions, cannot live with the Munich giants.

Dortmund have won the Bundesliga title for the last two seasons while Bayern have finished without a trophy, but Hoeness still feels his club remain Germany's main club.

"Dortmund is a relatively regional thing. Bayern is a global player," insisted the 60-year-old chief.

"(Dortmund) will never, never, never catch up to our enormous success over the last 30 years.

"They will have to win the German title ten times in a row to perhaps be more popular."
