A third division football team in Greece has been punished by the country's football association after a fan died after being attacked by home fans at a match in September.
The association on Wednesday announced sanctions against the club, Irodotos, which include deducting 15 points, ordering 10 home matches to be played without fans in attendance, and a ban on acquiring new players for the rest of the current season.
The penalty was announced following the death of 46-year-old fan Costas Katsoulis during a Sept. 14 game between Irodotos and visiting Ethnikos on the island of Crete.
Katsoulis suffered severe head injuries and died in hospital in Athens two weeks after the match.
